SAINT GERMAINS PRIORITY - FIRST AID TRAINING

On March 10, 2006 Saint Germain said "We also recommend all heart friends to know basic techniques in self-defense, and all should know first aid, CPR and you should have classes annually in the very basic techniques that you need for assisting others".

In order to meet the time line the Masters have set for our preparedness we would like to see all heart friends registered for First Aid/CPR classes by September 21, 2006. The Masters would also like those who are going on the Luxor trip to have First Aid/CPR training. The following organizations offer First Aid and CPR Training.

The American Red Cross often offers First Aid and CPR together in one class. If you go to www.RedCross.org, from the home page you can type in your zip code and it will give you the contact information for Red Cross classes nearest you The link to
"Health and Safety Services" includes any first aid and CPR courses that
may be scheduled in your area.

The American Heart Association has The Heartsaver First Aid Course which includes General Principles, Medical Emergencies, and Injury Emergencies. Optional topics include CPR, AED, and Environmental Emergencies. This class takes about 71/2 hours. When you sign up for your class make sure you specify that you want both first aid and CPR. To find American Heart Association classes near you go to http://www.americanheart.org/presenter.jhtml?identifier=3012360

National Safety Counciloffers first aid/CPR training.  Some Heartfriends took their training a few weeks ago and said that it was very well done.  They even provide a DVD with their workbook for more detail.  You can contact the National Safety Council at http://www.nsc.org/train/

If the above organizations have nothing scheduled in your area (in our suggested timeframe), or simply are not active in your area, you may need to contact other resources.  Try your local Fire or EMS (Emergency Medical Services-ambulance) organizations.  The local high school or local Police can probably steer you towards somebody in your area who has first aid training credentials. Some of these First Responder groups may have recertification courses already planned for their personnel. If you don't want to attend the more advanced training, then maybe you can arrange with the course instructor to attend only those modules that meet the beginner requirements.

If you're having difficulty getting other Heartfriends on board with you to provide the numbers sufficient to attract the interest of an instructor scheduling your very own workshop, then maybe you can avail yourself of an online resource such as found here: http://www.firstaidandcpr.com/
